Fix Scanner Not Detected
🪲 Bug:
Your computer can't see your scanner.
🔧 Fix:
* First, double-check the scanner is plugged into the wall and switched on – sounds obvious, but it's easily missed!
* Next, check the cable connecting the scanner to your computer. Unplug it from both ends, give it a wiggle, and plug it back in firmly. Try a different USB port on your computer if you have one.
* Restart your computer. Sometimes a simple reboot is all it takes to jog things back to life!
* If you have it, try using the scanner on a different computer to see if that detects it. If the other computer still doesn't detect it, the scanner may be faulty.
💡 Tip:
Keep your scanner software up-to-date. The manufacturer's website (Canon, HP, etc.) usually has the latest versions.

❓ FAQ
Scanners may not be detected if the USB cable is faulty, the Wi-Fi connection is unstable, or drivers are outdated. First, check all physical connections, restart your scanner, and make sure it’s turned on. Then reinstall or update drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
If your scanner isn’t appearing, disconnect and reconnect it, try a different USB port or network, and restart your computer. On Windows, run the built-in Hardware Troubleshooter. On Mac, remove the scanner from “Printers & Scanners” settings and re-add it.
Yes. Drivers act as the bridge between your computer and the scanner. Without the correct drivers, the scanner will not be recognized. Always install the latest drivers directly from the manufacturer’s support page for your specific model.
For wireless scanners, ensure both the scanner and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Restart your router, disable any VPN temporarily, and re-add the scanner in your system’s scanner settings. If the signal is weak, move the scanner closer to the router.
If your scanner appears in the system but won’t respond, the issue may be with scanning software or permissions. Reinstall the scanning app, ensure your antivirus/firewall isn’t blocking the device, and try scanning from another application like Windows Fax and Scan or Preview on Mac.
